All forms EXCEPT poetry are accepted.

The application form also includes:
A) 500 word statement with a synopsis or summary paragraph that describes the project you anticipate working on while in residence;
B) a 500 word statement that describes how this award will help you in your quest to find the time and resources to complete or polish your master work. In other words, tell us why this award is really-really important to you. Mention your financial needs.

UPLOAD WRITING SAMPLE

(20 page maximum, Times NR 12 pt., double spaced)
(Word or PDF format)

The sample may include several discrete pieces of writing (such as essays, scripts, novel chapters or flash writing samples) OR one complete work, whether published or unpublished. It may be a part of the master work you intend to complete or polish while in residency OR it may include discrete other samples that show your ability to write in general.

UPLOAD RESUME

(Word or PDF format)

Your resume should note any education, and outline your last decade or more of work experience. No formal education is required. If you have won any meritorious awards or citations whether in writing or other fields please note these. Please note that the contest is open to retirees and emerging unpublished writers so yes, we’d like to know if you won a junior high writing contest in 1949 or were the editor of your college short story anthology collection in 1969.

PAY CONTEST FEE: $0 – $45

After you have uploaded your entry, a PayPal invoice from Hot Pants Press will allow you to pay the $45 contest entry fee via PayPal.

If you cannot afford the $45 fee, check one of the boxes that states either FEE REDUCTION GRANTED or HARDSHIP WAIVER GRANTED.

FEE REDUCTIONS or HARDSHIP WAIVERS must be requested in advance. (SEE the FAQS page for details.)

We thank you for entering and for supporting women writers.

If you or your peeps wish to provide additional support for the Writer’s House and its writers in residence you can DONATE here (via PAYPAL) or visit the Daisy Pettles’ page on the crowd-source platform, GO FUND ME. Help feed and house a starving woman artist (literally, folks). Every dollar counts!

Good luck and thank you for supporting women writers!
